Ty Beanie Babies
The original nine Ty Beanie Babies were first introducted to the world in 1993 by a man named Ty Warner. His company, Ty Inc., creates and distributes his beanie babies. Beanie Babies are basically stuffed animals, but instead of using stuffing there are tiny plastic pellets inside which gives each Beanie Babies a unique feel.
Shortly after their launch, Beanie Babies became an overnight phenomenon. Kids loved them and collectors were sure they would be worth money at some point in the future. Right now, unless you have a misprinted tag or an oddity on the Beanie Baby itself, they aren't worth much as a collectors item, yet.
In 1999, Ty Warner decided to stop making Beanie Babies, but there was such an outcry for him to continue, he did change his mind and he still designs and creates Beanie Babies to this day.
Ty Inc. did sign a deal in the 90's with McDonalds for them to put Teenie Beanies in their Happy Meals, but these Beanie Babies are not considered collectors items.
